Doctor en Historia Antigua por la Universidad de Extremadura y profesor en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de Cáceres. Fue alcalde de Trujillo de 1996 hasta 2008, y tres años más tarde ocupó la alcaldía de Ibahernando hasta 2019, que volvió a recuperar la alcaldía de la localidad de Trujillo.
